“Your backpack is so heavy. Have you got rocks inside?”
Actually yes. My backpack is full of rocks! How else am I going to get them home?
Since I’m building my city farm on a budget, I was looking for free materials to build borders between the paths and the outer beds.
So I ventured out with my kids in search of – rocks. We didn’t have to go far or do any digging.
Unfortunately, all over Israel people illegally dump rubble from their renovations in vacant lots and on the edge of town. It’s ugly and wrong but I made the best of it by picking over a dump site about 100m from my back gate in search of rocks of the right size.
Then we schlepped them home and shaped them into a border. It was good exercise and we’re happy with the results.
